Coca-Cola Road Race
The event that started it all. The Coca-Cola Road Race captures the spirit of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic: 47 miles from Durango to Silverton, two mountain passes above 10,000 feet, spectacular descents, and a finish to remember.
Riders start by category in Durango at 6,512 feet and finish in Silverton at 9,318 feet. This is a competitive event. For a non-competitive ride, register for the McDonald’s Citizen Tour.

- 33rd Street and 2nd Avenue, Durango, Colorado.
- Parking
- Please do not park in the City Market parking lot. Limited parking is available on East 3rd Avenue between East 29th and East 32nd Streets. Carpool or bike to the start whenever possible.
Registration & Bib Pickup
Riders who register on or before May 1 will receive their bib number by mail, except for Colorado residents and international riders who must pick up their packets at packet pickup.

Chaparone Ride with 12 and Under Children
If your child is racing and you would like to ride alongside them, we offer a special $50 non-timed parent entry. Support your young cyclist, cheer them on, and share the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic experience together.

Number Plate Placement
Secure your number plate to your seat post using zip ties or twist ties. Do not bend or curve the plate, and keep your number visible throughout the course. Improper placement may result in incorrect timing. See the Need to Know document for placement photos.
Course Cutoff Times
- Coal Bank Pass: Riders must be past the pass by 12:40 p.m.
- Molas Pass: Riders must be past the pass by 1:20 p.m.
- Road reopening: All riders must be off the road by 1:30 p.m.
Riders who miss a cutoff will be pulled from the event. These deadlines keep riders from descending into Silverton as the highway reopens to vehicle traffic.
Important Race Information
- Plan your return trip. Bicyclists are not permitted to ride back to Durango. Arrange private transportation.
- No team or support vehicles. Due to the road closure, these vehicles are not allowed on the course.
- Be self-sufficient. Four official support stations are available along the course.
- Observe the yellow-line rule. It applies to the entire course, including the closed-road portion.
- Watch for emergency vehicles. Stay alert and use caution throughout the race.
All registrations are final. No refunds or transfers. If the event is canceled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, there will be no reimbursement, rollover, or postponement unless otherwise noted during online registration.
