The pure essence of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic – the Coca-Cola Road Race is the event that started it all. Forty-seven miles point to point. Two mountain passes higher than 10,000 feet, monster descents, legendary champions, and you.
The Coca-Cola Road Race begins by category. You’ll line up at a race-specific start in Durango at 6,512’ and cross a finish line like no other in Silverton at 9,318’. This race is a Colorado classic that you want to be sure to catch.
The Coca-Cola Road Race is a competitive event. Non-competitive riders can register for the McDonald’s Citizen Tour.
Reminder: Riders must be past Coal Bank pass by 12:40pm and Molas Pass by 1:20 pm or you will be pulled from the event. For safety reasons we cannot have riders descending into Silverton when the road reopens and hundreds of cars start returning to Durango

Note: Please do not park in the City Market parking lot. Limited parking is availble on East 3'rd Avenue between East 29'th and East 32'nd, riders are encouraged to carpool or bike to the start line.
Field limits, and start times are listed in the table below. If you register on or before May 1st you will receive your bib number in the mail. If you are a local rider (zip codes 81301, 81302, 81303, 81122), International rider, or registered after May 1st, you will pick up your bib number at Buckley Park located at 1250 Main Avenue, Durango from 1pm to 7pm on Friday May 23rd.
$10 of your entry fee is donated to numerous community organizations.
Number plates MUST be zip or twist tied to your seat post. Not having the plate properly mounted may result in incorrect timing. Do not bend or curve the plate. Please see the pictures in the need to know document for reference. Numbers must be visible on the course at all times.
All riders must attain Coal Bank Pass by 12:40 p.m. and Molas Pass by 1:20 p.m. The highway will open to vehicles at 1:30 p.m. and all riders must be off the road by then. Bicyclists are not permitted to ride back to Durango, so you must take private transportation.
Due to the road closure, no team or support vehicles are allowed on course. Riders must be self-sufficient. There are four official support stations throughout the course. Yellow-line rule is in effect for the entire course, including the closed-road portion. Please be cautious and aware of emergency vehicles on course.
All registrations are final. If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, there will be no reimbursement, rollover, or postponement unless otherwise noted when completing online registration for the event.Category | Prize | Places | Start |
