Community Contributions

The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic has enjoyed growth and success over the past 35 years. This has only been achieved by the outpouring of support from the communities of Durango and Silverton, law enforcement, volunteers, sponsors, and participants. In an effort to show appreciation for the efforts made by all, The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic has annually made contributions to support community programs such as medical care infrastructure, cycling and trail advocacy, and junior/college cycling programs. Additionally the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic has helped fund major mountain bike races within Durango including the 1990 World Championship, 2001 World Cup, and a host of other events of all sizes. This has aided in making Durango a "Cycling Mecca."
