BP East Animas Time Trial

 

A classic Durango ride turns into a time trial. Mostly flat and rolling terrain capped off with a short climb. One of the most scenic time trials in the United States...

13.7 mile point to point time trial. Terrain is flat to rolling with 1.2 miles of climbing to the finish line. Rider and team support vehicles are not allowed on course. Riders will go off at 30 second intervals. First riders off at 7:00 am; see start order below. Rider start times will be posted at registration headquarters.


A level and B Level Masters Riders will compete for prizes and placings for not only their age group but also for the overall of the category

Course Profile

What you need to know BP East Animas Time Trial May 27, 2013-The location of the Time Trial is on County Road 250, 8/10 of a mile north of the intersection of 32nd street.

There is NO parking at TT start. Parking is available near the intersection of 32nd St and CR250, at Animas Square and Ptarmagin Center. There will be Porta Potties located at Animas Square. Please be considerate when parking in these locations, clean up after yourself.

You must ride to the start. There will be a porta potty at the start line. Bib numbers to be on the right hand side of body, no bike number is needed for TT.

-If you are just racing TT (or crit) you can pick up packet at the Criterium (Main and 9th) Sunday May 26, start line from 7:30 am to 9am

-To get to TT start take Main/Camino Del Rio to 32nd Street, travel east to intersection of CR250, start is to the left, parking is to the right. Once again, there is no parking at start line. You must ride the 8/10 of a mile to start. Law enforcement will turn you around if you attempt to drive there.

-Course is 14 miles, point to point. There are six sharp turns at the north end of the course, you may need to come out of TT position to negotiate these turns. There are many driveways along the course. The IHBC has taken precaution to mark the course, alert residents, and there will be numerous course marshals on the course. Riders are ultimately responsible for their own safety, watch for any obstacle, or vehicles on course. Be careful and own your own safety. Sag/support vehicles are not allowed on course, they can meet you at finish line by using Hwy 550.

-Start times will be posted May 26th at 3pm at the start/ finish area of the Criterium (8th and Main. Category sequence is on website and riders will go in 30 second intervals.
Riders are responsible for being at start line 15 minutes before there posted start time for staging. If you are not at start when your name is called and miss your start, the event will continue and you will not ride theTT, no exceptions. We have a limited amount of time for our permit to use road and will not have later start times for riders who miss there scheduled start time.

-No drafting allowed when overtaking other riders, or when being overtaken. We will have spotters on course and motorcycle officials to monitor this. Yellow line rule is in effect at all times, cars will be oncoming in southbound lane, be careful.

-TT finish line will be clearly marked and visible, it comes after a steep uphill section followed by a short false flat then rising to the line. As you roll through finish line, ride up road to cool down.
- Protest Period is 15 minutes following preliminary results posting. If you do not verify then and file a protest or concern we will not do it after that period.

Riders will not be allowed to ride back on course. You must exit to Hwy 550, and travel south to Durango. Cars can pick you up at top of Hill past finish line, and exit back onto Hwy 550.
